LAKE DANAO Camotes Island

The town of San Fransisco, Camotes island is known with its beautiful 680-hectare lake called Lake Danao.  Once awarded as the cleanest inland lake in the region, Lake Danao has a unique natural 8 shape lake, and the largest in the entire Visayas. Just about a 30 minute ride from Santiago Bay Resort, this one piece of a body of water is  surrounded with grassy areas, where families can do picnics alongside the beautiful lake.

While hiking, we found these young boys fishing for tilapias. You can actually request to have it grilled at an additional fee and have lunch at the green lake park. But since we already took one at Santiago Bay, we decided not try it then.

The long trail beside the lake makes for a good walk and is truly a nature tripping for us. Benches are found at the trail side as you hike, so you can take a rest anytime. I like the ambience. It's cool and refreshing.

Finally, we reached the area where a nipa hut is found. It's a resting place and you can do picnics there too. It's also overlooking to the islet just across it. An old lady who was fishing nearby said we can take a boat tour towards that islet and they usually ask for P500/head for an hour tour. Unfortunately, we needed more time for that so we didn't make it. Perhaps next time.
