While on our way to Visayas State University (VSU) to visit Aunt Thelma, I noticed some christmas decors and large figures of Santa Clause and Christmas tree at the entrance. Feels like Christmas isn't over yet, huh =)
They said it's best at night when the lights are on. And so, while waiting for the night, we toured a while around the campus and stayed near the beach for some picnic. I was with Mitch and her cute little niece, Precious.
It's past 5pm. Time for my favorite scenery--the beach and the sunset--- Yey! The beauty of nature was stunning, the colorful rays of the sun were ravishing especially when sun sets over the horizon.
Finally, wait is over -- The night has come. Lights were turned on and the huge figures brightened. There you'll see the snowman, the gifts, the candy bar and one of Santa's rein deers as well. So colorful and astonishing, indeed. Passersby couldn't help but take a look at it. Little Precious had a great time! Seeing the happiness in her eyes made me realize the significance of Christmas in one's life especially to children. Of course I know how it feels, looking back at my younger years, whenever Christmas is near, I felt so much excitement!
But as I was looking at Santa Claus with his arms wide open, it reminded me the real essence of Christmas-----
It's not about the Christmas presents, Kris kringles, parties, family bondings, but the acceptance, preparation, and joy we give back for the coming of our savior, Jesus Christ.
All ofthese brightened figures were just symbols. Bright lights mean brighter future, brighter tomorrow. =) The Star on top of the Christmas tree symbolizes Jesus as the light and the way in every misfortunes in our lives. Santa Claus, on the other hand, isn't real, but a legendary figure of St. Nicholas, who was famous for his generous gifts to the poor. And this is our calling, it's best to give love and share our blessings not only during Christmas season but on every days of our lives.
While contemplating, a voice from within wanted to reveal to me something I couldn't really explain. But it felt like something about this new year, 2010, as one of the best years in my life. That was cool. But was it real? Or was it just part of my imagination that's playing tricks on me? Whatever it was, whatever that meant, I hope it was real and something I'm gonna look forward to. Wish me luck =)
