DISNEYLAND, Hongkong

My dreamland .....

Since little, I've always been longing to visit Disneyland one day. Athough I know Hongkong's Disneyland is not as grandeur as that of the US nor even Japan,  at least it has made my dream come true! Hongkong is just a 2 hour travel by plane from the Philippines, and requires a passport only, so it's worth the visit. And so the following morning, we prepared ourselves with excitement.

Hongkong Disneyland is located at the Lantau Island. From Kowloon City, we took the MRT and interchanged trains with  the Kwun Tong Line towards Yau Ma Tei. From Prince Edward Station, we crossed to the opposite side and took the Tsuen Wan Line  towards Tsuen Wan after. Then from Sunny Bay station, got on to Disneyland Resort Line towards Disneyland.

The entrance will lead you right to the huge fountain where you can see Mickey Mouse image surfing over the water being pulled out from the back of the whale. At night, it's terrific as you will see the fountain with the different colored water lights.

Disneyland has 4 major attractions; the Main Street USA, Fantasyland, Tomorrowland and Adventureland.

Main Street, USA

Travel back in time to acquaint small town America-- that's definitely what the Main Street is all about. This will bring you back to the 20th century American town including old fashioned railroad and vehicles.

AdventureLand
Adventureland exhibits a wide jungle where you can see its main attraction, Tarzan's Treehouse. Starting from the Rivers of Adventures, you can also tour the waterways by a raft or by riverboat.

Join the thrilling moments as you journey along and you will then  hear different animal sounds-- making you feel it is real.

Got a picture of myself playing bonggo at the jungle ☻

Fantasyland

Fantasyland is fairytale themed park where the encahnted and magical world lies. You can spot on Sleeping Beauty's castle and meet the Disney characters too!

Made me look back and recall my chilhood memories!

Ride aboard the FantasyLand Railroad Train which relaxes as you journey around Hongkong Disneyland.

TomorrowLand

If the Adventureland brings you to the jungle adventure, with Tomorrowland, you will experience the adventures at the outer space!

Meet Buzz lighter, the famous space ranger in the movie Toy Story, as
 you enter Tomorrowland--

To blast off for more exciting adventure, enjoy the high speed roller coaster ride at the Space Mountain! Although it's not as big as the other roller coasters, it definitely is unique! It plays your imagination as it brings you up to the outer space with all the comic outer space designs!

The well-built Space Mountain is designed with on set cameras that will take pictures of you as you wind yourself  to the outer space!

I had several fun filled memories at Disneyland. Although life in reality bites, at least, at Disneyland, it felt like once in your life, you have lived in fantasy world where everyone lives happily ever after!

Hope you enjoyed my Hongkong Travel page!

Have a magical day!

HONGKONG

Goodbye Philippines! Hello Hongkong!

Thanks to Cebu Pacific Air for the promo seat sale! 4 months before the travel date, we booked our flight    from Cebu to Hongkong. That gave us ample time to prepare. It was a budget-packed travel, so we chose not to avail of any tour packages, but travel and plan the itinerary on our own. Bringing along maps with us, it was kinda challenging and exciting!  I was with one of my coolest pals and her sister, so everything went smoothly.

Kowloon New Hostel - Mirador Mansion

Upon arrival at the HK airport, we went straight to Kowloon New Hostel- Mirador Mansion via taxi and paid about $300 HKD (ouch! made me want to poke the driver!!). The Receptionists welcomed and  entertained us all the way to our room.  Well, it was just a small one, one double  deck and an extra bed. Not really that fancy but fair enough for the 3 of us. Nevertheless, I like the surrounding area very much since it's accessible and just a walking distance to the MRT, popular boutiques like Loalde and Giordano,  fast food chains like McDonalds,  bus stops, the Star Avenue and at a lot more!

Stayed there for 2days/3nights, so far so good. So if you want a budget place yet nice and comfy, I recommend it. Otherwise, you go to fancy hotels like the Disneyland Hotel..

Part of our itinerary was the city tour the next day. We went shopping at the sidewalk near the hostel  and took breakfast at Mcdonalds. We found a Camera store along the way, so I purchased my first point-and-shoot Nikon Coolpix cam. I wouldn't have purchased it if it wasn't bargained. From the original price of 2400 HKD, the salesguy lowered it down to 1k HKD, and so got it sold! Then he told me "You are so hard headed!" lol. That look in his eyes made me laugh and he gave me that grin smile.☻ Well, you have to be wiser at times ☻

And so, we headed off to Avenue of Stars,  one of the city's most popular attractions.

Star Avenue

Located at the Victoria Harbor at Tsim Sha Tsui, you will see several metalled stars with names and signatures/autographs embedded in a plaque on the ground to commemorate Hong Kong film celebrities and the achievements of its film industry. It's cool and I appreciate the designs. At night, you'll see the display of symphony of lights but we haven't had any chance to experience it.

You will also see other attractions like Museum of Art, Space Museum, Cultural Centre and the Clock Tower.

Ladies' Night Market

We went shopping at the Ladies Night Market in Mongkok too. You can find almost anything and everything as you scout and shop for a bargain-priced shirts, bags, jackets, sweatshirts, etc so don't miss it! It's located at the Tung Choi Street and is open from noon until about 10pm..You can also try the street foods. I forgot what they called it but it was similar to the "kikyam" in the Philippines. Although I hate spicy foods, it definitely soothes my taste ☻
