Manila Ocean Park is the first themed-park Oceanarium in the Philippines. Since it just started, one can't expect it to be as huge as the one at Hongkong or Singapore but it's definitely worth the visit!
We arrived in Manila around 5pm from our Taal Volcano Trekking in Tagaytay. Got off at the crossroads between Lawton and the U.N Avenue then crossed to the other side of the street and walked towards the Quirino Grand stand where Manila Ocean Park is located behind. But before getting there, we stopped by at Jollibee for dinner then headed off to our destination!
No matter how tiresome the day was, our excitement never ceased! It was almost 6pm when we finally reached the place. The entrance welcomes you with its large hallway with food stands at the sideways then directs you to the aquaworld! Entrance fee is for P400/pax.
The Oceanarium
Start your jouney from the mini jungle and as you go along, just like the Oceanarium at Hongkong Ocean Park, you'll see diff. species of the marine life through diff. set of aquariums: Bahura (coral reef), Laot (fishing ground), Buhay na Karagatan (the ocean life) and Ang Kalaliman (the deep).
Got more fascinated with the Ocean Life section since it's where the underground tunnel is located. It's actually an aquarium in a form of a tunnel. In here, you can see diff. marine creatures such as Stingrays, Sharks and a lot more swimming above you. Felt so much like you are under the sea!
I believe Manila Ocean park is not far from being one of the world class oceanariums in Asia in the near future! The themed-park is definitely one way to educate us with what Philippine marine life is rich at. Schools and other organizations can set up educational tours too. Surely, more upcoming exciting activities are being planned ahead. Hope to back here in a year or two!
